Description

Description: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate GGT7 in samples. An antibody specific for GGT7 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any GGT7 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for GGT7 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of GGT7 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Overview: Gamma-glutamyltransferase 7 is a member of a gene family that encodes enzymes involved in both the metabolism of glutathione and in the transpeptidation of amino acids. Changes in the activity of gamma-glutamyltransferase may signal preneoplastic or toxic conditions in the liver or kidney.
The protein encoded by this gene consists of a heavy and a light chain, and it can interact with CT120, a plasma membrane-associated protein that is possibly involved in lung carcinogenesis. The genomic coordinates used for the transcript record were based on transcript alignments.Widely expressed, but at low level, except in the airway epithelial cells. Detected in brain, heart, kidney, liver, lung, spleen, testis and trachea
